Dr. Mahony received a degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1979, and went on to pursue a Masters Degree in International Health Care from Yale University Graduate School. With an advanced degree in public health, Dr. Mahony traveled to Africa to engage in research with the Hanang Village Health project in Tanzania. Upon her return to the States, Dr. Ellen Mahony entered medical school at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, and became one of only a select few female physicians invited to enter the University’s General Surgery Residency. Dr. Mahony completed a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, and successfully completed the University’s highly sought after Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency.

Over the course of her career, Connecticut cosmetic surgeon Dr. Ellen Mahony has been awarded research and merit scholarships, and recognized with several awards from professional medical organizations, including the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Mahony is the only solo female Connecticut cosmetic surgeon to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a select member of The American College of Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Surgery, The American Medical Association, The American Board of Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Plastic Surgery, and The American College of Sports Medicine.
