Cosmetic Dermal Fillers JUVÉDERM®, Restylane® and Radiesse®

While BOTOX® Cosmetic works by weakening the muscles that cause lines, cosmetic dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM, Restylane and Radiesse are used to fill wrinkles and lines by adding volume to the skin. JUVÉDERM and Restylane are clear gels that can be injected into deep facial wrinkles to lift and smooth out the skin. These injectables can last for over 6 months (almost twice as long as collagen), and will gradually disappear from the body over time. Radiesse is yet another cosmetic dermal filler with a longer duration of up to 12 months, that can be used to smooth over deep lines and wrinkles around the mouth and folds of the face.

Collagen – CosmoDerm® and CosmoPlast®

Dr. Mahony also uses collagen treatments to fill out superficial wrinkles and scars, and add fullness to lips. A collagen injection is a temporary solution that will have to be repeated as the substance breaks down in the body. Dr. Mahony offers CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast treatments derived from purified human collagen. These injectable fillers can restore lost collagen, leaving your skin feeling smooth and naturally soft.

To treat deeper lines and wrinkles, collagen treatments can be combined with chemical peels that strip away the outer surface of the skin. Fat Transfer

A fat transfer is a natural alternative to other cosmetic dermal fillers and can be performed in conjunction with BOTOX Cosmetic. During a fat transfer procedure, Dr. Mahony will remove fat from areas such as the thighs, abdomen, or buttocks, and inject that fat (after the excess fluid has been removed) into facial wrinkles or the cheeks and lips. A fat transfer can be performed alone or in conjunction with Connecticut liposuction, tummy tuck or facelift surgery. The fat transfer can be enhanced by adding dermal tissue to the fat (dermal fat graft) in order to maximize volume.
