It’s a busy time of year in our office as women from Westport and Fairfield, CT and beyond seek us out for consultations on the ideal aesthetic surgery to get before warmer weather, skimpier clothes and bathing suits start to appear (I can’t WAIT for those Spring buds and longer, warmer days to appear myself!!) Women are often surprised to hear me tell them that it’s not too late to consider breast augmentation surgery in April, May, and even June. The truth is that downtime is relatively minimal with this procedure, and you can get into a bathing suit with the lifted, youthful and plump breasts you’ve always dreamed of without anyone knowing.
Because I know that breast implant surgery is very high on my patients’ wish lists, I thought I’d take some time to explain the four main reasons why I continue to recommend the IDEAL IMPLANT.
Safety
My patients and I are so impressed with the safety profile of these implants that I’d estimate women choose them in 99% of my breast implant surgeries. The IDEAL IMPLANT has a double wall shell that is filled with saline, a safe substance that can be absorbed by your body if leaked, not gel. The risk of rupture with IDEAL, however, is very low –about 2.1% compared to the 7-13% of other implants. Unlike gel implants, IDEAL ones can’t “silently rupture.” And, replacement of an IDEAL IMPLANT is a straight forward procedure.
In addition, IDEAL rates of capsular contracture are lower than any other implant on the market today. Capsule contracture is the formation of scar tissue around a breast implant which causes the implant to become misshapen and hard. It occurs more often with gel implants and must be addressed surgically – at the patient’s own expense.
Look
Many women ask me if the IDEAL IMPLANT, clearly designed “safety first,” can offer the same natural look and feel of other implants, gel or otherwise and I enthusiastically tell them “yes!!” The look is very natural and because of their double-walled structure they have a great feel and natural shape to them that ages well.
