Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is the biologic material that remains after a patient’s blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge, which separates the platelets from the rest of the blood. This centrifuged, platelet-rich plasma is then applied to various parts of the body to stimulate tissue healing and growth. Dr. Mahony is very excited about procedures using PRP because this biologic material is derived from the patient’s own DNA, which means no allergic reactions, and it enhances and truly rejuvenates, not just augments, existing tissues.
