Case #2779
Breast Augmentation
Tough decisions in breast rejuvenation surgery often include whether to add a breast lift/mastopexy as part of the procedure. Such was the case with this young 33 yo lady, G3P3. She is 5’4” tall, 34A and weighs 120lbs, and was on the fence about committing to permanent breast incisions at this time in her life.
A breast lift would reduce some of the excess breast skin and raise the position of her areola. When combined with a breast augmentation, she could select a smaller implant and it would be positioned higher on the chest and below the muscle. But many women have concerns about the appearance of scars and would rather just have a larger implant to ‘take up’ some of the lax skin and volume loss, forgoing the lift until some distant time in life.
This young woman liked the idea of a very full implant and didn’t mind that it would only partially be under the muscle and it would sit ‘low.’ She felt that for the next several years this would meet her expectations. She also was comfortable that in the future she has the option to trade out the current implants for something smaller in combinations with a breast lift.
She and Dr. Mahony met a few times to sort out the pros and cons of all options. She made an informed decision to have a subglandular breast augmentation through an inframammary incision. The implants are 425cc high profile gel implants. At a 36D, she is extremely satisfied and confident that she made the best choice for herself!
