Memorial Day has come and gone and we’re officially into the summer months after a long Winter and an even longer “Spring”. Seemingly overnight we’ve moved from dull, grey, cold weather to warm weather and an explosion of blossoming and green! The ability of nature to transform itself so quickly and dramatically amazes me every year.
Nature and transformation are definitely on my mind in my work as well. I’ve always loved being a surgeon and helping my patients transform themselves, in whatever way that makes them feel best. And what’s really got me excited right now in my practice are some of the newest natural procedures that I’m certain will transform not just my patients but our entire industry. I’ve talked a lot about Platelet-Rich Plasma on my blog which is helping to restore hairlines, brighten and plump faces and rejuvenate vaginal tissues. This month I’d like to introduce the most recent procedural innovation we’re bringing to our Westport, CT office: ALMI.
Autologous Lipocyte Micronized Injections (ALMI™) uses your own tissues – specifically your own fat cells – as an all-natural filler for the face, hands and vaginal rejuvenation. The fat cells are removed from a small area on the body (always from a place you won’t miss them!) and centrifuged to concentrate the platelets and other rich cells. They are then injected into the areas where aging is taking its toll and there is slack skin, reduced sensation and overall dull appearance. The really amazing thing about ALMI is that those platelets and cells don’t just sit there, they get to work to regenerate, restore and repair the surrounding tissues wherever they are injected.
It just makes sense to use a patient’s own natural, biologic product to plump up cheeks, lips and hands where traditional fillers are normally used. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against traditional fillers like Juvederm – I use them regularly as part of my maintenance process on myself. But I like the added level of “natural” that ALMI will bring to some very popular non-surgical procedures and I know this choice will make the most sense for certain patients.
I have made it my mission to continue to search out these innovative, natural and biologic anti-aging procedures and bring them into my practice. Addressing the aging process from all angles includes everything from healthy eating and exercise (something I practice daily!) to proper sleep and stress reduction to selecting from a range of natural and surgical choices for aesthetic enhancements. As with everything in life there is no one way or right way – there is only what’s right for you.
I look forward to meeting with my patients “of a certain age” who are looking for a doctor to partner with as they plan the right combination of services for their specific needs. Combining the ALMI Regenerative Cell Facelift with the Vampire Facial – layering these services and products – is a powerful, synergistic regenerative combination. AND when you add our newest medical-grade skincare product, Altar, to the mix as the aftercare topical, there are additional benefits. Transformation awaits!
